16th Challenge For The Days Ahead ***Winner***

Well done all and especially the winners, and I really liked Tdodd's dog shot, but it seems to have shrunk since I last saw it.

I quite liked that also Ed, and thought it changed, Julie chose that shot, it was tough as there were was an excellent response to this challenge, I was going to do a highly commended as well but decided against it as I would have to mention everyone  as all the images had their merits.

Thanks, Ed. I think that image has the potential to be saleable so I did not want to leave a larger version lying around on the interweb. I've left a smaller version on the thread so that at least the entry doesn't vanish entirely.

Mine didn't  The difference of mine though was they were as shot i.e "in colour" I was hoping there would have been some more B & W as a theme i.e Piano keys etc as opposed to just making any image monochrome.

The dice shot was my first attempt with a 45mm tilt/shift lens that I had borrowed and a 12mm ext tube and I used the tilt to ensure that both top faces of the dice were in focus whilst taken at f4 and very close. It worked well

the lens cap was a bit of a joke really and the cap from the TS-E as it was the only one I had I could use as all my other lenses have a gold ultrasonic badge on them. I meant to call it 'simply the best' just to :p at outr Nikon toting bretheren

Ed I like the thought behind your dice shot, I saw it from the off, I said to Julie it was very clever using B/W objects, I had a shot of a zebra that would have been good but it was pre setting,I know I couldnt win but as a taster, thought I would have seen more of B/W done B/W if you know what I mean ;)

Had I had the time today I had planned to post a 3rd shot of a 5" B&W portable TV. Alas, not enough time this weekend... But I was thinking along the same lines :)

Well done BigYin, and all the other winners and participants. Some really nice shots there, some inspirational material too, thanks Dave for hosting a great idea, and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in with the next challenge.

Well - That was a surprise :D Don't know what to say really - other than Thanks of course! To be honest, I doubt that i'd have voted mine in the top 10 of the shots posted.

Suppose i'd better get my thinking cap on for the next challenge topic. Excuse the dumb question - but what's the protocol for setting the next challenge re:timescales etc. (i'd really not thought as far as actually needing to set one:lol:)

Well Bigyin copy and paste the sort of rules and try to work to that time scale eg post a challenge tonight or tomoz pm incoming

Ideally posted by lunchtime tomorrow, posting usually from Thursday 8pm until Sunday 8pm (judging to be done as soon as possible after 8pm)

A notice of the new thread to be posted on this one so subscribers to this one are aware of it. Loose rules to be cut and pasted from the first post in this thread, that's about it really.

Right we are peeps,

Had a flash of inspiration, came up with a topic right away...

Challenge 17 thread started here

The topic for challenge 17 is

WEATHER

Thanks. Third is quite good for a first attempt at one of these.

I suppose I was cheating a bit though as the theme was black and white. 90% of the film I use is black and white so I had a bit of a head start!

Steve.

One shot I was planning was a magpie, but I did not manage to get a picture of one. The other was a chess board, but did not have time to set it up.

Interesting theme.

Well done to everyone!

I think a special commendation should go to JennyB for getting so close to a Hornet!! I'm too much of a coward to get more than 10 feet from one BUT a macro shot!! :gag:

Above and beyond the call of duty Jenny

Jamie

Good luck everyone with the new challenge

LOL Jamie. I was at least 3 inches away from it!

Actually hornets get a very bad press. They are not as aggressive as normal wasps and will only sting you if you really upset them. However, apparently they do have a nasty sting.

Only just spotted the above Ed - I have to say that I felt a little lazy in submitting a couple of plain black and white photo's as opposed to something with a B&W as a theme, hence my third shot, which was pretty much monochromatic out of the camera.

Can't say it was a particularly arduous conversion to Black and White
