Afternoon all....... I'm being petered for what my fiancés parents can get me for xmas and I've got a rough idea what they'll spend! At the moment I don't need anything camera related but I thought maybe going up to 32gb RAM would help me a little

Maybe I'm wrong

As Neil has intimated, it all depends on what you are doing with your computer and what the current spec is like. Some bottlenecks may not be RAM related. A new SSD can make more of a difference in certain instances and can cost around the same.

load up all your stuff then pop up task manager and you will see how much RAM you are using.
if you still have plenty left then more will make no difference.

You can if you have a lot of ram disable your systems page file.

I'm a graphic designer and use illustrator and Photoshop simultaneously with multiple large files and upgrading to 32 from 16 sped up my pc but if you're not doing anything intensive like that I'm not sure you'll notice a difference. As others have said, an SSD might be better and will definitely make everything load quicker. 5 seconds to load Photoshop for me now!

You don't want anything camera related!!

My goodness man, get yourself to either the doctors or WEX as fast as you can ;)

This is my current system

Windows 10
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
16gb RAM
250gb Samsung Evo SSD
3tb HDD (storage)

I done as mentioned and checked what I'm using a couple of times I got close to 13gb but that's about it! I'm sure I've seen it higher before!

I think point taken for 95% of my time it will be less than that so ill rethink!

Sorry I didn't explain my self properly, I have loads of camera related things I want but nothing will fit in the price range!

Here's a weird idea: why not just save the money until you have enough for something you really need?

I think you'll not see a huge difference with more RAM - you have a pretty decent setup as it is so unless you go down the route of video editing, I think you will be fine with the 16GB.

What RAM have you got installed. Faster ram can give you a wee boost like corsair vengance

Her parents done give money only presents. If I don't suggesat something ill end up with something I will probably never need or something I don't like

I already have the Corsair Vengeance Pro Blue 2x16gb 1600mhz so I think ill just have to leave it as it is!
