As the title says looking one of these for portraits and small groups will be adding the honeycomb grid with it also..

question i have is, is the 150cm going to overkill or is the 120cm more then big enough ?

Thanks in advance

Joe

If you get 150cm, you will get less fall off when doing full length shots. You can also keep the relative size a bit bigger, which means you can afford to pull it further back for a more even light distribution from 1 side of the group to the other. But the difference isn't all that big, so unless you KNOW you need the extra 30cm, I'm sure you'll be more than satisfied with 120cm. It's still pretty darn big and soft for most needs.

Sensible advice above:)
The extra size can be very useful, but be aware that a 150cm softbox is going to look very big unless you have a large studio, and unless you have enough room for it, it may cause more problems than it solves.

Also, softboxes are often used high up, this just won't be possible unless you have a fairly high ceiling.
