I notice that Ffordes currently have some attractively priced (anything under about 600 is a good price for these) Defocus Control nikkors. A couple of Mint- 105/2s for £499 and £549 and perhaps most interestingly priced, an E++ 135/2 for £499. (On a DSLR that's a 200/2 equivalent that you can easily hand-hold, about £900 new)
I've recently acquired a 105VR which is better suited to my eco-hippy stuff and almost as sharp, so I'm not in the market for these beauties.
These are more something that a Nikon-based portrait or fashion photographer might find useful, and might even be of interest to indoor sports photographers.
They've also got a couple of AF-N 180/2.8's going for less than £300. I've got one of these and it's wickedly sharp even wide open. Past about f4 I doubt there is a sharper lens in this range, even counting Leica and Zeiss's offerings. It's also light enough you can carry it on the off-chance that you'll need it, something that tends not to be true of the 70-200 zooms.
