101 uses for an empty film cannister...

Another use I have for them:
I adapt film to use in my subminiature cameras which originally used 16mm film.
The problem arises when developing in a patterson tank as the film is prone to exit the tank when the chemicals are poured out.
I overcame this issue by drilling a 35mm canister full of holes, ensuring any burr was sanded down.
The tiny piece of film now sits in the canister which then sits in the tank.
The chems flow through drilled holes with no problem!

I hacked away at one of the semi-opaque white ones to make a pop-up flash diffuser for my 40D before I bit the bullet and bought a proper speedlight.

This time last year they came in handy for my 3-day, 2 night bike ride camping trip from Wales to London - zoom in to see the canisters (and film dev bottles)
