Helloooo
I'm doing a project for university, which involves me photographing 100 people, whom I will ask for permission. So far I have 23 images, but still don't feel that I am maximising the potential of each shot. Would anyone be kind enough to give me any advice and/or tips on how I could get the best out of each subject. Thank you

Have you thought of incorporating some kind of theme? Maybe the use of numbers? i.e each person holding something dependent on what number they are etc.

Adding some kind of theme would be far more interesting that 100 photos of people. Just an idea :)

Or maybe link between them - you find number one, who then refers you onto number 2 who then finds number 3 for you - with a little story to go with the connection?

interesting project.

you could take photo's of people in order of age... i.e. 1 to 100 (you might struggle with the later years :D) but it would be a hell of a challenge

or if you were looking for ideas on a particular shooting style - then maybe have a look on flickr / google at 'dragan effect' for instance.

good luck... sounds exciting

i think holding numbers is a great idea or have all of them wearing the same item of clothing or using a prop, it sound like it could be fun, good luck

That is a superb idea. Wish I had time to give it a go.

Me to.

Maybe you could make it slightly easier by doing 10 sets of 10 from each of the last 10 decades.

Another idea, although I'm not quite sure how you'd do it, could be to try and combine ages and fashions.

Keep us posted with what you go for, it's got so much potential.

It is ambitious for a university project as you probably have a restricted timeframe so there is a danger you could rush it towards the end. Using numbers has been done and it begs the question of why? Did you have a theory behind why you are doing this? I am assuming it just isn't to take 100 portraits? Try to develop the theory behind why you are doing it and it should inspire you more.

For aesthetic purposes have a look at this guy, top notch stuff.

what about 100 different professions that could be easy or hard but interesting..
