Well Ive had this lens about 2 weeks now and have come to the conclusion I have one of the probably very few lemons, it was the last one left in the shop in the display cabinet , not that is any reason to worry I suppose, every photo taken with it was very soft all through the range from 100-400 and every concievable shutterspeed, apeture, ISO setting , handheld , tripod mounted you name it , the only thing I did'nt do was bloody bungee jump with it, I was just about use it for target practice with my rifle when I realised the shop probably wouldnt take it back with a gaping hole in it.
Luckily a mate of mine who has been teaching me and recomended the lens as he has one and couldnt be happier with ,took it for an afternoon to try and prove me wrong, I know this sounds daft but I was relieved when he rang later that day and uttered the immortal words "yes mate this lens is a dog send it back", as it just proved there was nothing wrong with my eyesight or technique.
So back it went this morning , told the guy in the shop the whole story, he just stood there and said yeah no problem I will order you another one in with out any arguement whatsoever, didnt even question me at all which was surprising I thought.
Sorry I would have posted some sample pics with it, but I deleted everything in a fit of rage :bat:
 
That sucks, I know what it's like to have no faith in your kit.

Make sure you make a note of the serial number so the store doesn't try to fob you off...
 
where did you buy it from, that sounds like great service
