10-20mm owners.....

I got a 10-22, thought I would use it for landscapes.

I find it difficult to use on landscapes, makes everything look really really flat. It is difficult to get used to.

However, I do use it quite a lot. I like the way that it distorts things. People can be made to look taller, angles can be made much different. Go for it, you know you want to really.

Considered hiring one?

i had one for a year, used it quite abit and was impressed with how wide it goes, but i just couldnt settle into it, i found the distortion a tad annoying, like taking a picture of a building and it ends up looking wonky , then wide angle stuff looking all strange at the edges. maybe i wasnt using it properly, but i tell you one thing.... i regret selling it on as i want another one now!

I found the same thing with my first UWA lens - I got a 20mm F2.8 (on film) and found for landscapes it was uninspiring - it just made everything tiny. You need a very strong foreground to make the shot work. I find that I like wide angle closeup, or use for wide skyscapes.

i went to the peak district the other day, out of three lens 10-20, 28-105, 55-250. i used the 10-20most of the day, the others barely got touched
