+1 if you understand the importance of this window

They aren't comparable or relevant to each other.

Don't set him off again - if you look through his Lumby blog thing you'll see he's a 'student of photography' so pointless discussion is a specialty ;)

So - it looks like we've killed this thread then :D

What next ??? How about a discussion about how stupid it is to shoot with anything but a Nikon ???

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Photographer Sam Cornwell recently decided to embark on a pilgrimage to this site that played a huge role in the beginnings of photography. He spent three days traveling from his home in Hayling, Portsmouth to Lacock Abbey, and brought along his mobile darkroom — a trailer attached to the back of his car. One of his goals was to recreate the first negative as a wet-plate photograph to keep as a memento of the pilgrimage.

Well worth watching (as long as you can ignore the grinding AF on the video camera)...

If he wanted to pay homage to Fox Talbot, why didn't he produce a paper negative? :)

I live a few miles away, drive past it all the time, but have never been there. Much like Longleat, it's almost too close to call it a day out (if that makes any sense).

+1 from me. Shot this many years ago at kentwell hall in a daft homage to his type of image.

Yes i know its nothing like it. ;)

This is somethin i did in the summer.
I was experimenting in making my own silver gelatin emulsion, with limited success.
However, with enough exposure to bright enough light i managed this

Ignore the mess its the piece of paper in the middle of the frame.
Its my very own "oriel window moment"

Thanks, its pretty poor distortion wise in those verticals and dirty in their faces with a dodge tool in reality ....Twas back to my film days in the dark room .. :D

Its a Tudor re-enactment day at a place called Kentwell Hall (Essex I think it was) highly recommended if you have children to entertain.
They have a camera obscura as too... hence me remembering a foxy fella and then taking this shot.
