Hi
Has anyone had dealings with 1&1 internet? Cannot belive it has taken me 2 years to close my account with them.....

I've been with them for over 5 years. What was the problem?

Hi
Tried to close my account 12 months ago, was told I had to wait another 12 months  did this, and tried to close the account again, finally closed the account this month, thought that was the end of my dealings with 1&1 until a new bill arrived today:bonk: tried to pay the bill just to put an end to things, only to find this has to be done on line via "the control panel" and guess what, my account is closed, so I have no access to pay on line:bonk::bonk::bonk: Whilst I am sure they have many happy customers I have found their customer service lacking:shrug:

I closed my account with them the other day, least I hope I have after reading this.
I was not impressed that I had to google how to cancel it as no such options were to be found on the usual 'control panel' I used to administer the domain. Had to log into a different URL completely.
I got the distinct impression they made it deliberately difficult so won't be using them again.

I agree with the above experiences. I had a couple of sites with them and it was bewilderingly difficult trying to work out how to cancel. I'd think I had done it, and then the next month another invoice would arrive.

I definitely wouldn't recommend them.

i dont know about the account issues

I know their ticketing system is a farce, and that they pulled a couple of great stunts over the years - like resetting everybodys FTP password (with no warning)... that had the knock on effect of changing everyones SQL passwords, which knocked a lot of sites offline... another stunt was and changing the rules for sending mail via PHP without warning anyone (and not publishing the new rules either)

There are many reports of bad experiences with 1&1 but they also have a few supporters!

When did that happen?

I hadn't heard of this happening at 1&1. It was a well publicised event at Fasthosts though. It was rather annoying.

IMO they are all much of a much. Currently waiting on Fasthosts support as my hosting has gone down... again. :suspect:

Andy.
