well, isn't it convenient that universities don't consider REAL residents, to be a 'resident' until they've lived in the country for 3years....? i have a full time residency status in this country, but since it was only from last May '07, the uni tuition fees are the rates for 'international students'....love that ehh?! i want to turn my barn outbuildings into a college at this rate!
really sad and dis-illusioned :(! and they want it all up front, not even gonna take it per month!! ahh well....i figure if i start my uni savings fund this year, by next year i may be able to fork over the amount! £8000 per year per course...ouch! :bang: i'll be getting old by then! lol would be the fact that i'm an over achiever when it comes to doing different things (lol), can't just rest at photography, has to be graphic design and fashion design, lol. and to top it off a nice hours drive each way to the campus! rrrrrrrrrr lol
hey, am i the only one who can remember the days when college/uni fees were only £1500-2500 per year, and i'm not even 20 yet!!! lol

Thats why i never went to uni, could not be bothered to be paying for it for the rest of my life.

Take a couple of years off and go when you're 22.

Jesus H Christ. I dont regret not going to uni for a second :shake:

lol i'll be old!!!! i've been out of school since i was 16 :D, i figure that to be taken seriously in the areas of work i like, one needs to be young and 'of the times'...obviously experience is important too! :D

God thats a terrible rule considering your status :bang:

Your full time residency status that seems to not apply in the education system :rules:

ahhhh! im with ya! yea i know, silly ehh? good business...that and running a church, both tax free!! i'm in the wrong trade!

As said, wait for a few years, then apply. Going to Uni was the best decision I have ever made, and would not change that for anything.

Absolutely. Don't listen to those that tell you they don't regret not going to university because they'll never really know what they missed out on so they can't really comment in my opinion. It's not all about education, there are so many life experiences you'll gain while at university and it's something not to be missed.

Most of them can be cured with a dose of antibiotic :)

The fact is these days to even get a job interview with many companies you need a certain level of qualification and as the number of people achieving degrees is increasing so is the competition & therefore qualification requirements.

Whilst qualifications are by no means a certain indicator of someones abilities, they're becoming pretty much essential to get a "foot through the door". I wouldn't give up on Uni but depending on your exisiting financial situation it may be worthwhile waiting a short-time, only you know for sure - good luck either way !!

I think you need to be here for 7 years to get a citizenship, i know you have your residency but does that allow you to vote? I too wasn't born here but I immigrated here when i was about 10 and went to school here and university like everyone here, I suppose you need to ask someone if it would be free in a couple of years time when you are here long enough then go to uni and save yourself some money.

p.s. I live in the Shire too !!!!! Hi5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you could always go back to the country you came from and do a degree there?
otherwise, stop complaining and pay the monies.

but in fairness though thats alot of money for someone to beable to tell you how to design a dress ay!.

i friend of mine paid £95,000 to become a pilot! he got a mortgage for that one!
