A friend is asking, it's for his lad who's into photography.

He's currently using an iPhone SE, and I've been asked if there's a camera they could get him for £200 - likes macro/landscapes.

Is it possible, worth it?

A used 350D with a 50mm f1.8 and a set of used Kenko AF extension tubes - could probably pick up the lot for about £200 - or forego the 50 mm for a kit lens 18-55mm.

Then download AI Gigapixel and try it out - may be slow (depending on Video Card in PC) but he will then be able to get 30MP+ from the 350D.

A used 40/50d, 1100d should be easily in budget, but that all depends on what sort of camera you have in mind. Dslr, compact, etc.

but the Fuji you posted does seem pretty bang on, i'll recommend that cheers!

Thanks for the additional suggestions, but I did already recommend the first one Tom posted.

The discussion of the individual merits of these various cameras isn't going to happen - future proofing vs size vs etc...

Happy with the Fuji for this :) has the close focusing pseudo-macro, i think i saw ibis, image quality looks good in general

I feel it best matches the original requirements (y)

Tempted to get one myself for a city break!

That Fuji is a cracking deal. Goes a little wider than the usual kit lenses which could be handy for landscapes.

As a first step up from a smartphone what about the Canon EOS M100? Can be purchased now for £279 with 15-45 lens. A bit more than budget, but might be worth thinking about. Comes with two year warranty too.
