My preference for travelling light is the Panasonic TZ100. Compromised in may ways admittedly but consistent and acceptable results in a tiny package.

A quick thought, on some of my older film cameras pressing and slightly turning the shutter button locked the shutter in the open position for manually timed exposure. Turning it back released the shutter.
