Tamron 90mm is a pretty good shout for that price. The IQ is good, the downside is that it hunts a lot in low light and the AF motor isn't the quietest. However depending on what you are doing 9 times out of 10 you manual focus when doing macro work so a noisy motor is not really a big deal...

I am curious to know what you would upgrade to from an alpha A900. I thought the 900 was bascially the top end body you could get in FF as a Sony user ? unless of course you are thinking of selling up and switching over to cannikon ?

I think they are in short supply currently because rumour has it cannon have pulled production on the old version as the new version is coming out soon, which apparantly has a whacking great price tag to boot, so I think most who have them will be holding them tightly :)
