+ 1 for Tamron, I had the 17-50 and now have the 28-75 and they're both great.

Take a look at the Tamron 17-50 or 28-75 f2.8 both have great optical performance, constant f2.8 aperture and all at a very very good price especially if you pick up a good used one.

I haven't tried the Sigma but I own the Tamron 17-50. Both are generally regarded as very good and from my experience I can really recommend the Tamron which stays on my camera 80% of the time. If you look at completed ebay sales the Sigma seems to sell for a little less than the Tamron. Both...

Yes I've used my Tamron 17-50 with a Kenko 1.4x Pro with mine and it's a great combo. The Tamron is an incredible lens IMHO - stays on my camera 80 to 90% of the time!
