Digital V Film or Film V Digital

Many pro's still use film alongside digital capture, for me nothing beats the benefits of af speed, fast aperture zooms, high iso, instant preview and image control via RAW capture that high end digi cameras give for wedding work. On the other hand for landscape work I prefer the square (6x6)...

To D700 or not to D700?

Hi Ali, what's the cost to swap from 5D to 5DII? The thing that would worry me is the fact that my next £2.5k of profit would be swallowed up, won't the 5dII give you the low light capability you need at a much lower cost? If you bought new you are probably going to lose 50% on every lens you...

    Nikon 70-200mm vr1 v vr2

I reckon so, only an issue with FX, on film it was fine, zero vignette. Mine is probably one of the first, the design may have been quietly tweaked over the years. Gary

    Nikon 70-200mm vr1 v vr2

I use mine every week, the vignetting is obvious at F2.8 on an FX sensor, not a whine just a fact.

    Tokina 11-16mm vs Nikon 10-24mm

Nikon, Sigma, Canon and Tamron all make/have made 14mm rectilinear primes to cover the FX/35mm format. Gary

    F2.8 Lens for Ringside .....

Remember the crop factor, a 24mm is not very wide on a half frame sensor, something starting at 16-18mm might be more useful.

    70-200mm on a D3

That will be the answer if your not in DX, "old" lens on a "new" camera.

    70-200mm on a D3

!00%, the lens was designed for film and so covers Fx, as Nigel says are you set to Dx in the menu? Cheers Gary

    Tripod for landscape?

I can't fault Manfrotto's 055, with a basic 115 head I've used everything up to light 5x4 without issue. I also tried a Benbo (1) but the great design feature of the BENt BOlt is also it's greatest weakness, on two occasions I watched with horror as the legs folded like Bambi on ice and sent my...

    70-200mm on a D3

Forgot to add, the Sigma HSM focus is a match for the 70-200VR, Sigma Ex build quality was excellent.

    70-200mm on a D3

Hi Gary All the Sigma 70-200's will give you full frame on a D3, I used the original version on F4's and F5's in the good old days of film and the current version is just a tweak of the same lens. The same applies to all the Nikkor 70/80 - 200 lenses, they were originally designed to cover 35mm...
