Our trade is not helped by people like this blatantly ripping people off with crap makeovers and photography then having the cheek to force people to pay a lot of money whilst threatening customers. Trading standards need to close them down I hope the bad publicity force them out of business.
Can't see the photos that you've posted but I hazard s guess the flash should be in TTL mode. That way the camera will control the flash output If you use the flash in manual mode you need to set an appropriate aperture with the shutter speed no faster than the sync speed.
Having changed from a Nikon D3s to a D800 for the resolution the route I would go is the 1dx as the noise will be a lot better for what you want and unless you are blowing up to stupid sizes you won't notice a difference. The D800 has a significantly higher resolution but is not a patch noise wise.

Depth of field is constant the thing that changes is subject movement if it is not static. Quality wise if you are using a tripod use the lowest ISO possible but the lens will perform best at f5.6 or f8.
