IQ wise it wouldnt be anything special and would only be okay for outside, anything inside you will need alot faster lens. maybe hire a 70-200 f2.8 out for the day?

from what i have read the 70-200 f4 L IS meant to be the sharpest canon 70-200

nah, good glass will make your shots out that 350d really nice better than you would think, the glass makes all the diffrence! normally its the body outperforming the lens, not the otherway around, like with the 5d mark ii shows bad lenses worse then a camera with less megapixels

hireing out maybe a 400 2.8? or a 300 2.8? i dont think that 200mm will be long enough

i think that my 70-200 is a much much nicer lens on a ff than on a crop.

do exactly what you did before, just find a place you like with bright highlights and really dark low lights, this will make the hdr more like a vibrant and bright one. maybe get a trail version of photomatix?
