    Nikon D7xxx owners thread

Sorry for the delay. I love the Nikon, the performance is fantastic compared to the 450d in all respects. I don't miss anything about that camera. Apart from the actual jump in output from the camera, one of the biggest things that I never anticipated is how fast access is to all the...

    Lowepro slingshot

You might manage, but it would be a squeeze I think. Suspect you'd be better off with a larger model.

    What do I really need?

 Seriously, compare carefully before you buy and see what you like, if I was in your shoes I'd be looking at a Nikon d7000 + a suitable nice lens + extras..

    Nikon D7xxx owners thread

Funny coincidence, but I did exactly what you're contemplating. I planned to upgrade to a 60d/7D and when I went to have a play ended up buying the d7000. Haven't regretted it once :D

    Lowepro slingshot

I had one of those and thought it was great, only reason I don't have it anymore is I needed something bigger. How much kit are you actually planning on carrying? My only negative was that when I was out all day with kit it does put all the strain on one shoulder, but its fine for shorter and...

Great Find, thanks for sharing. Will be working my way through a few of those I think.

How important is ISO for you?

Same here, I couldn't imagine going back to film and a fixed ISO. It also reduces the demands on the lens, so fast lenses are less important. I guess the answer is that its pretty important to me.

Help please. I'm just starting out.

+1 If you're not sure on camera choice at this stage, I would wait until you at least know what you require before spending 1K.

New DSLR... Please help me decide....

I did the same last year, tried the Canon 60D , 7D and the Nikon d7000 and found I far preferred the Nikon d7000. I found the fit better, and preferred the way the camera operates in terms of menu's etc. Haven't regretted it once :D

    Lens protection?

+1 I would consider a couple of holes in the lid etc to make sure you don't encourage any fungus. I can't help but feel a sealed plastic container combined with our lovely UK weather would be a recipe for disaster!

    Spend my big budget...

I would buy local. The chances of anything actually going wrong may be small, but if it does you have a physical shop you can get to and who will likely be bending over backwards to keep you happy as a customer who has spent that kind of money. I would guess any problems are likely to be...

    Memory cards

Cheers for your feedback. I think I'll give that 64gb a try for £30 then as a back up on my D7000. That's a LOT of images backed up in case my primary card has any issues.

    Raw or jpeg or both?

+1 I totally agree. I think if your computer can handle the larger files, you have a larger card as above and you have the time and inclination then I'd go RAW. I use 2x16gb cards in my D7000, and when I originally got it I set it to record jpeg on one, RAW on the other. After a while I...

    Memory cards

Any other feedback on the 7dayshop branded cards? Tempted to use that 64gb in the second slot of my D7000 as a backup for £30. Has anyone made any claims under the 7dayshop warranty?
