Canon EF 28-135mm F3.5 - 5.6 IS USM Zoom Lens Won't Auto Focus

Cleaning made no difference unfortunately. I agree with comments about the lens - not worth spending money on! Thanks all

Canon EF 28-135mm F3.5 - 5.6 IS USM Zoom Lens Won't Auto Focus

Thanks for reply, Yes, other lenses focus fine on both my 5D MK3 & my new R8. I'll certainly try your suggestion of cleaning the contacts on the lens - the least I should do :) I agree that a lens repair would likely be expensive and not worthwhile. Thanks for taking the time. John

Canon EF 28-135mm F3.5 - 5.6 IS USM Zoom Lens Won't Auto Focus

I have a Canon EF 28-135mm F3.5 - 5.6 IS USM Zoom Lens that just continually 'hunts' while trying to auto focus. Even if I provide a good focus point, it fails and just hunts! I have no idea why this is happening just wondering if this would be an easy fix? Is it worth spending any money...

    50mm Seems Much Wider!

Thanks everyone for the replies :) I'm not sure I fully understand but I'll get my head around it soon! I always thought that what I saw in the eye piece was what I'd get in the picture file - seems I get far more (wider) in the eye piece than I get in the file.

    50mm Seems Much Wider!

I have a Canon Zoom Lens EF 24-70mm 1:2.8 USM lens attached to a Canon R8 full frame camera. All the videos and a photography course I do states that at 50mm it should be closest to how we view with the eye e.g. if I set the lens to 50mm the view in the camera should be about the same as I'd...

Gear failure? How many have had it happen?

My 5D MkIII failed to power up, sent away to a Canon approved repairer they returned as beyond economical repair - my decision when I discovered the cost! Long & short, found someone online who repaired it including new main board at extremely economical price even with videos of all the work he...

Beginner Back Button Focusing & Remote Shutter - Possible?

Thanks all, you've provided the answer :) Just to add detail, my camera is a Canon R8 with Canon 100 to 400 lens. The tripod also has a gimbal fitted pointing towards trees with bird activity. Thanks for all the replies.

Beginner Back Button Focusing & Remote Shutter - Possible?

My partner wants me to set my camera up on a tripod on our veranda with a remote shutter cable so she can take some pictures. My camera is set for BBF so I'm unsure if, when using a remote shutter cable whether it will focus at the same time? Hope I explained that okay?

Beginner Back Button Focusing & Remote Shutter - Possible?

I've been using back button focusing for a while and wonder whether it's possible to use it with a remote shutter release cable or Bluetooth? Apologise if this is a stupid question!

Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

I regret my happiness was short lived :( Camera not powering on again and now sent off for a 'power board' repair - might be 2 to 3 weeks before I can add more to the story.

Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Well, I spent most of the day searching Youtube for a solution, there were quite a few 'solutions' and I just waded through all of them! I was getting rather disheartened and even started looking for an alternative camera to purchase, then I got a shock at the cost of purchasing a full-frame...

Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Thanks for the reply todders,. Since posting here I've watched quite a few YT videos and tried all the suggestions without success :( My guess is that it's not booting up due to the very low battery when I was changing settings! Just a guess. Checked the door and the 'plunger switch'. I've...

Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

My Canon 5D Mk3 not powering on! Last night I left my 5D powered (by mistake). When I picked my camera up this morning the LCD was still displaying as I'd previously disabled the auto power off. I made some changes to some setting e.g. assigning the AF point to the multi-controller. All worked...
