SMD is just a packaging technology and in my experience most domestic LED bulbs use this type of device. It will have no affect on output or colour temp.
I'm not entirely sure what you could seriously do with it on an iPad anyway. The screen and lack of colour management would hinder any serious processing in my opinion. I suppose download and possibly share but what else?
I use LR on a netbook when traveling but that's only to download, and...
Best to look closely at the leds used. I bought a cheapy unit to replace an outside light and the face of the bulb is about 21 yellow leds. Fine when switched on but I don't think the yellow appearance would look good all over the ceiling, when off.
The regular Philips Leds I use look good on...
All the lights in my house are LEDs and I prefer the Cool White rather than the Warm white. I have a few that are dimmable but really I don't think it's worth the trouble since they don't dim very much and I can't ever remember needing to dim them.
Interesting side affect of Led bulbs compared...
I think you can only manually re-arrange the order when you are in a Collection.
When you do the Edit-In you should get a dialog pop-up and one option is to Stack With Original. Make sure this is checked if you want the edited version to be adjacent to the original.

The last version of ACR for Elements 9 was 6.5 and as far as I can see this does not support your cameras.
Here's the link to ACR 6.5 and the readme includes the supported camera list.

I have the same printer and recently used The Magic Bullet cleaner. You can get this from Specialistinks.com They also have some very good videos on Youtube about how to clean Epson Printers.
I got very good results with it.

Homegroups are easy to setup and use in my opinion, far easier than it use to be and the network traffic appears to be faster.
Having set all the machines up on the same Homegroup you'll need to get each machine to share the folders you want to see across the Homegroup. Open Windows Explorer...
That's true, but if you choose to use the Open Anyway function and also turn off the warning for future use, it defaults to this option all the time and you can't select the Render in Lightroom option next time around. To do so you need to reset the warning dialogs and make the choice again...
It's not just about memory - your P4 processor will only support 32bit.
Go to the MS website and download the Windows 8 Upgrade assistant. It will tell you what you can and can't run on your machine.
You should be able to do that from any of the modules. I presume that since you are trying to create a JPEG you have LR5 - yes? Also after you do the Edit In, do you see the any warning about a mismatch between LR and the ACR version in CS6 - are they the same version anyway?

There's no doubt that straight out of the box Win 8/8.1 presents a different interface to the user but I think its unreasonable to assume that it offers nothing if you don't have a touchscreen. Win8.1 did address some minor issues - personally I think the lack of the old fashioned Start Menu...
