    Interesting Copyright case

There was a rumour flying about that there were in fact 2 red buses in London, perhaps the judge should rule that each bus be a different colour to avoid confusion :cuckoo: This is a ridiculous case and should never have gone to court!

    How many shots are rubbish?

I find it interesting to see that so many photographs are taken just to get half a dozen decent one's, such is digital photography? At present I will go out with a 35mm film in my camera and take 36 exposures (usually), each exposure is carefully composed in manual mode. When I develop the film...

An explanation from a security guard on why "you can't take photos here"....

No matter who is right and who is wrong, why put yourself in such a position? The security people and photographer will both consider themselves victors of the situation, whilst in fact both parties made fools of themselves. As has been said, if you really need to photograph this building why...

Do you carry your camera with you every day?

I was once assigned to cover a story where an outside privy had exploded causing the occupier to be quite badly injured. The occupier had rolled a cigarette and lit up thus causing the explosion, there was little of the privy left other than the base of the pan. Most of the pan was embedded in...

    What to shoot in Southampton?

Get on the Hythe Ferry at Town Quay, takes 12 minutes to cross to Hythe, when you arrive at Hythe a narrow guage railway takes you down the pier into the village. It's one of the oldest commercially operated trains in the UK. Hythe is a pretty village on the edge of the New Forest and plenty of...

Going to the Caribbean - looking for advice

Try not to look like a tourist (not easy I know), wear a cheap watch. I always took my oldest heaviest camera which at the time was a Nikon F3. If it's shiny and looks new it'll be a target for theft. Having said that, I've never had a problem apart from once in Freeport, Bahamas. The other...

    Selling without copyright

Copyright duration in photographs where the “author” is known Copyright expires 70 years after the end of the year of the author’s death, whether the photograph was published or not, except in the case of photographs taken between 1 June 1957 & 31 July 1989. The copyright...

    Selling without copyright

Copyright continues until 70 years after the holder of the copyright has died. So depends when the person died. I'm guessing that as the negatives are up to 1960, that was when the person died. If that's the case then you could have the copyright by the 2030's.

Why wouldnt you want to travel the world?

Having watched the 3 video's none would inspire me to travel, in fact I found the flickering images rubbish (as I reach for the paracetamol). I consider that I'm well globally travelled and prefer to stay in good old blighty these days. Had I never travelled, watching the video's would do...
