Oh of course, but there is a big light signature from the assit beams on flash units / triggers. with IR lamps there is no visible light signature. I know that it's minimal, but if I can avoid it then it would work out better at gigs to just slap a krill lamp onto me.

No, I don't mean how far away does it work from I mean how visible is it to the person on the receiving end :p

How bright is the AF Assist beam, Les? I'm looking at getting something like this to help focus during gig photography, but it would have to be pretty damn inconspicuous/insignificant so as to not annoy the band/crowd. I won't be using a flash with it, just as AF Assist.
