I'm pretty sure that the entry level Nikons can only use the IR shutter remote.

If it's anything like the D40 you can choose from 1,5,10 or 15 minutes duration from the CSM/Setup menu. Have you got & read the manual? You can download a PDF one from the Nikon website.

Read the manual & reset the settings to default.

That seems like great value for money when compared to equivalent Canon/Nikon models. It really depends on your budget and whether you want new or used....

£200 for a card socket?! Sounds excessive to me;I'd be tempted to try a local TV repair shop instead.(if any still exist). Let's hope Olympus can find you a cheaper option!
