    Birding Holidays?!

Thank you :). I would just be interested in day trips at the moment as I am obviously not experienced enough at the moment to commit myself to anything longer and it would probably just be a disappointment and a waste of my (and everyone else's!) time. I will have a look for local groups, TP...

What is with Nikon's crazy numbering system?!

It wasn't an argument over which is better. Both are obviously great systems :). I'm solely talking about the numbering system because as a non-Nikon familiar user I fould it rather confusing! That was with a bit of guess work :p, the wiki article doesn't line up with mine and it was far...

What is with Nikon's crazy numbering system?!

I understand Canon's, I'm a Canon user :p... it is the Nikon numbering that has me baffled :suspect:!

What is with Nikon's crazy numbering system?!

If the wiki article is anything to go by then it is all over the place? Canon's are nice and simple ;)! The two may not be directy comparable but is it roughy correct to say: Nikon D3000/D3100/D3200 = Canon 1000D/1100D Nikon D40/D40X/D50/D60/D70/D5000/D5100 = Canon 300D-650D Nikon...

    Birding Holidays?!

I was in Aberdeenshire two weeks ago as I had the week off and went up to visit my parents. There are quite a lot of good bird and nature sites in the area so I hired a 100-400 lens and went out to have an amateur go at bird photography (wayyy harder than it looks :bonk:). While I was out I...

    Birds in Flight Photography

Thank you :). I went out and tried today but there was really heavy fog :(. I managed to get some shots I'm reasonably happy with for a first go. My settings were roughly AI Servo AF, single point focus, 1/1000 shutter speed, f5-f7, ISO 200-800. Thre real problem I have is managing to keep...

    Birds in Flight Photography

How on earth do you do it ? I am hiring a 100-400 lens this week as I have the week off and thought I would try a bit of wildlife photography for fun. I really like the lens and have some shots I like of stationary birds but I struggle to get any "bird in flight" shots. The problem I...

    Photoshop CS5 Brush Tool

When I was using the brush tool the circle showing the edge of my brush disappeared so I couldn't actually see what I was doing! It stilol worked fine but wasn't showing me the outline of the tool :| was very strange.

£3000 portraits....Can only be one place!

Wish me luck, I'm going to my "pet photo" viewing tonight :p! Got given a gift voucher for a shoot and free small frame. I thought "why not?" as I was a bit curious about the way they do things and might get a nice photo out of it. I am dreading having to go through the hard sell though :(. One...

Best time of day for squirrels?

Unfortunately it is not a place I can visit very often, only when I make the trip to go visit my parents, which is why I want to maximise my opportunities. I think I may have to rely on patience and luck!

Poss not nature - shooting dogs?

I would try and stay out of the woods. Try some open grassland with a nice backdrop (hills or woods) so you can get plenty of light. Either that or a beach if you have one local with nice scenery?

Best time of day for squirrels?

Basically as the title says ;). I have found a reasonably quiet wood that is supposed to be good for red squirrel sightings. I went on Saturday for about two hours in the middle of the day and didn't spot any. I'm trying not to be disappointed as I know realistically that they are quite shy...
