When I was using the brush tool the circle showing the edge of my brush disappeared so I couldn't actually see what I was doing! It stilol worked fine but wasn't showing me the outline of the tool :| was very strange.

Unfortunately it is not a place I can visit very often, only when I make the trip to go visit my parents, which is why I want to maximise my opportunities. I think I may have to rely on patience and luck!

I would try and stay out of the woods. Try some open grassland with a nice backdrop (hills or woods) so you can get plenty of light. Either that or a beach if you have one local with nice scenery?

Basically as the title says ;). I have found a reasonably quiet wood that is supposed to be good for red squirrel sightings. I went on Saturday for about two hours in the middle of the day and didn't spot any. I'm trying not to be disappointed as I know realistically that they are quite shy...
