New Nikon 35mm f/1.8 FX lens

Fair enough. Cheers for replying; it's probably quite a noob question - I've only had a DSLR for a year and need to read up!

New Nikon 35mm f/1.8 FX lens

This is probably a stupid question, but what's the difference between that lens and this one, Nikkor 35mm f1.8 that's been on-sale for a while?

why do you shoot digital... film is so much better!

*** when I was younger and had a point and shoot, when I'd finish the roll, I'd wind it back open the back of the camera, and of course the film wouldn't be wound back totally, and everything was ruined! Twenty two years later I'm still as useless, and know I'd do the same! Also, it's great...

    So, what's the point?

It's a challenge! I've just failed at a load of macros I was trying to capture this evening and I'm really ******ed about it, but I'll try again and again until I achieve what I'm after. It's really frustrating, sure, but that's the fun of it!

    helloo , from coventry :)

Hey! I'm Coventry too, in Hillfields, and I totally agree there isn't much wildlife around here!! I've got a D3100, still very new to photography. Thanks for mentioning these Matthew, I'm relatively new to Cov, and not sure what's out there, but I'd been hoping there was an apiary nearby. :)

    confused about RAW

I got my DSLR in March, and held out using RAW until June, when I took the plunge, and it's the best thing I did. I'm not brilliant with my white balance and exposure comp yet, and using RAW gives me a lot of wiggle room if I make errors with either. It takes a bit more effort in PP than if...

    Royal Albert Hall Photography

I've been to several concerts in the last few years (granted before I bought my Nikon) and I've never had a bag searched or been told to stop. I'm off there to see Gloria Estefan (!) in a few months and the Nikon is definitely coming!

    The new version of Flickr

I do like the new layout although it seems quite similar to how Facebook and Google are displaying photos now. I dunno why there's been a migration to black backgrounds, but it doesn't bother me. My only gripe is that I like to look at Exif data, and that now involves an extra click per photo...

    Tutorial Photography Guide: Light Trails

This was my first attempt at light trails about a month ago: Bus Trail by Scottish Mike, on Flickr Round the Roundabout by Scottish Mike, on Flickr Red and Yellow by Scottish Mike, on Flickr I need to get out of the city centre to get rid of the streetlights.

    Local Fire

It's a really great photo, I like it :) I have to admit when I saw the article on the BBC website I'd wondered if anyone would capture a good picture... :S

    What attracted you to photography?

I always wanted to take good concert photos, but failed with the compact cameras I had. SO got me a bridge Fujifilm camera, which really sparked my interest, but frustrated me and held me back due to lack of a proper aperture. But yeah, I was getting some decent photos with it, so started saving...

    Photogrphy courses

Dunno about proper courses, but have you looked through the Tutorials sections here? The articles there have some great information that i feel has helped me.

    Strange Goings ON - Flickr

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm a Flickr noob, but when you embed a picture here or on another forum for instance, does the number of people viewing the pic in the thread increase the views or does the viewer have to view it exclusively in Flickr?

    Taking your camera with you.

I work at a local hospital which overlooks some fields with pheasants and rabbits, and there are some gorgeous gnarled trees and the potential for the air ambulance helicopter to arrive (it always seems to when I'm on break!) But the only place I can leave my camera would be in my locker, and...

    Hi :)

Hi I'm Mike, I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I'm quite new to photography, having had a Fujifilm Finepix s2970 bridge camera since Christmas and varying degrees of success with using it. I'm aiming to upgrade to a DSLR within the next year, but I have plenty still to learn before doing...
