i would say grab a d300, the sensor is improved upon the older generation of nikons. I have a d200 at the moment. I would upgrade next to a d300 or d700, especially if the frame rate isn't an issue. I think the d300 isnt as good as the d700 with the iso, but it is better than a d200 or d2x...

i have the tokina, seems ok to me but i havnt got anything to compare it to. Got a bargain on it for £240 with a very expensive polarizer thrown in off ebay.

you guys should check out art wolfe, its not uk tv but aired on american pbs or something. He makes 20 min episodes in lots of different places all over the world. I have been watching alot of his series, and have found it very inspiring. Its geared more towards the travel/nature/wildlife...

get a second hand d200 if you can stretch that then you can meter with all the older manual focus glass as well

macs cost more but they seem to last alot longer, my dad had his for 7! years and just recently he couldnt update to 10.5 (which is the latest operating system). Now I can't imagine a pc laasting that long, it's unheard of. It functioned fine and still does. My sister uses it now for web...
