What about the Nikon 200-500mm lens, though personally now I would probably favour the new 80-400mm. I have the the 50-500mm Sigma. And never again will I own a Sigma lens...

You have checked the slave switch haven't you.. Used to catch me out from time to time, though I am pretty sure it won't fire at all if on S while on the camera...
