I bought one 3 months ago - i27 2.93, with 12gb ram; SSD and 2tb HD.
I am a heavy CS5 user plus Lightroom etc etc - it just ploughs though things! Great bit of kit. No draw back at all so far. The SSD option seems worth it - its a 250gb one - only run applications from that - all storage on...
Ok - so sounds like these critters can run quite hot - the good side it saves on heating the studio abit . . .
Just installed this - http://www.bresink.com/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html Just to give an idea of what is cooking . . . Be interesting to see over the next few days! Was certainly...
Recently put in a 27" i7 (replacing an old G5 PowerMac Big Grey Box)
Just happened to put my hand on top of it earlier - strewth its hot! Is this 'normal'?
Fans were not going, I had just been building quite a complex layered Photoshop file so fairly pressor heavy stuff.

Just opened the box delivered by UPS today - a 27" i7 with SSD and 2Tb now up and running (with an additional 8gb Ram from Crucial- so 12 in there now). Been going for about an hour. LOVELY screen and it seems ok speed wise - just run a couple of bigish Photoshop layered files through (about a...
Would be happy to be as far away as possible from them all - might use the 100-400 on max . . . Been practicing my 'talk' - not sure how well the phrase 'Smile you miserable bu**ers' will go down . . . My in - laws; and yes they are Mis B's . . .
No probs on using anything wider - got enough...
Scenario is . . .
Camera - 5d2
Lens to be used - 85 f1.8 and 135 f2
Location - indoors, church and house (not a wedding!), groups (max 6) and individuals.
I just don't shoot in doors, always outside, mostly landscapes. Don't possess a flash . . . Family event I cannot get out of -...
Got 3 reasonable size canvas mounts to get done - what's the current thoughts on folk producing these - all images are panoramics - so long thin critters really.

Get them run on a Lambda? Have a seal put on the front and glue back.
These guys have one and produce pretty good results - ask for Dave . . .

Having now used a 5d2 for over a year - I just love it - the output on FF is just STUNNING - I will never go back to a cropped body - why would you? In every aspect its superior (other opinions are available!) the d2 has its limitations - which as sure canon will address in the next version -...
Just to add my 50p's worth - I bought Ed's lens - and it is stunning and great fun on a full frame - those extra mm do make a BIG difference. I have a 16-35 as well - both are very different creatures. Would not use the 12-24 all the time but if you want to go uber wide its excellent. (sorry Ed...
Kodak Instamatic - cant remember which - but a VERY basic one - then a Zenit EM - was SO proud of it - learnt so much about exposure - did all my own mono processing (all in my bedroom - just stank of fix all the time!) Used to do some wacky close up macro lark - all held together with tape and...
