Infra Red Photography - What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, I didn't phrase that too well, I actually mean looking through it in to areas which are brightly lit by the sun. I think I was a bit tired when I wrote that.

Infra Red Photography - What am I doing wrong?

I can just about see through it looking into the sun, according to wikipedia, visible light ends at 750nm and the 87 filter should start transmitting just below that, so I think that's what I'd expect really. I did try taking a few more shots where I overexposed the photo, I took a sequence...

Infra Red Photography - What am I doing wrong?

Hey Johnny, thanks for the effort I really appreciate it. I did think it was something I was doing with photoshop, as I did try with a Capture One demo which wanted to set the white balance lower than photoshop will let me, but I wasn't sure what I was doing. I did try taking a few different...

Infra Red Photography - What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the replies guys, I've read a few of the links already and done a lot of searching on the internet without much luck :( Although some of the links are new to me, I'm still not getting very far. I was under the impression that Canon's have a more aggressive IR blocking filter than...

    Argh, RAW sizes

I don't actually delete any  Granted, there's a lot of JPEGs in there, off my phone and point and shoot camera, but space isn't much of an issue for me. The best I've managed is 1089 photos in a day and that only took up 10.3GB. Not all of them are 100% in focus and everything, but...

Infra Red Photography - What am I doing wrong?

Hi Guys, I bought a Wratten 87 Infra Red Filter the other day and I don't seem to be having much luck with it on my 40D. I've followed the instructions here but my results are pretty poor. I took a photo of the grass and set the WB to that, then have taken the photo, but as I shoot RAW it...

Advice needed please... wide angle lenses on FF cameras

The sigma 10-20mm and the canon 10-22mm are both made for EF-S mounts and so won't fit on a full frame camera as the rear lens element protrudes too far and would catch on the mirror. It is possible to take apart the mount and replace it with an EF lens mount, and providing you don't zoom fully...

Man Detained As Terror Suspect For Photographing Police Car

To be honest, I'd expect if he was acting obstructive or causing problems then he'd be even less likely to be a terrorist as that'd be drawing attention to himself, and he wouldn't do that if he had something to hide. I suppose you are right that it's going to be impossible to make everyone...

Man Detained As Terror Suspect For Photographing Police Car

If he turned out to be a terrorist, I'd be very surprised that the police can determine that someone is a terrorist by the fact that they are taking a photo documenting police misconduct. It's not very likely that a 62-year-old chairman of a local park society is going to be taking photos...

Man Detained As Terror Suspect For Photographing Police Car

http://www.infowars.com/man-detained-as-terror-suspect-for-photographing-police-car/ Hope this isn't a repost but I did search and couldn't see anything. It's a real shame reading things like this and the other thread about the police forcing a tourist to delete their photos. If they carry...

how to replicate a pic like this: car in motion

Sounds right to me. I've not seen it done here, but I have at POTN. Here's a few examples: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=138789 http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=416525 http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=541629...

    Quick query about filters.

Do you have any examples of this? Is that 18mm effectively, or the focal length of the lens (Assuming the D80 has a crop factor, im not too familiar with the Nikon range)

    Quick query about filters.

Hi thank for the replies. And thanks Bob, nope not too late, I've not ordered them yet. Thanks for that, I managed to miss the fact that it was only down to 28mm. The 10mm on a crop is 16mm effectively so should I expect a bit of vignetting at the wide end even with the wideangle holder?

    Quick query about filters.

Hi guys, I'm just about to order a filter and filter holder and just wanted to check I've got this right and I'm not ordering the wrong parts. It's to go on the canon 10-22mm with a filter size of 77mm. I'm planning to get a Cokin P Series Grey Graduated Filter - The grad grey g2 medium...
