Wouldn't it be nice to get some decent shots in the Museums?

Just clout the sods across the head, enough to leave a mark anyway. Always works for me as when they start complaining or acting like the 'hard man' at least then they know i'm there.

    Waddington Airshow

Arrivals for Waddo tomorrow are the VC10 at around 11.45am and the Vulcan from Doncaster at 3.45pm.

    Waddington Airshow

Thanks modchild, best to leave the filter at home it looks like then as thinking about it the UV flare shouldn't be too much of a issue anyhow, especially in being situated along the flightline up next to the grass where the lens-hood can be used if conditions are too dusty. I had the 70-300mm...

    Nikon D3xxx owners thread

Cheers, with the old s1730 DSLR what i'd naturally do is to switch to 'A' mode and have the ability to change ISO, exposure, and shutter, but I guess it's just a case of getting my head around the NIKON userface as obviously the same options will be available on the D3100. Hoping for some clear...

    Nikon D3xxx owners thread

I've had my D3100 since Christmas and have just upgraded from the kit lens to the Sigma 70-300mm range. As a beginner to SLR's i'm mostly using the camera in mode setting which gives mixed results and like many i've found the D3100 operates better in around the ISO 400-200 range on any given day...

    Waddington Airshow

How are the Sigma lenses if you don't mind me asking? I've managed to acquire myself a Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG Macro for the D3100 after doing a bit of shopping around. I'm hoping to get some shots in at the PAVE on the Friday for arrivals and pre-airshow practise. Weather looks to be excellent...

    Waddington Airshow

Traffic can be hit and miss given previous years have been nightmarish for those going in on the early Saturday. I went to Waddo last year pre-airshow on the Friday to avoid the queues and to get a decent vantage point from the Barn Farm campsite which itself is good for basic catering and...

    Misty mornings!!

A thing i've noticed with the misty-mornings is that it helps to get a western-facing hillside or object for the sun to illuminate. The sun rising about the fog bank can be captivating but often causes most things to look like silhouettes in the camera lens. West is best.

    Southport Airshow

Will be there myself, dragging along the s1730 and showing the 'rents how to use the new S4500. Haven't seen the Vulcan fly, and missed out on it with the Waddo airshow so fingers x'd my reign of bad luck ends on Sunday.

    Distasteful but still not on

I'm kind of split on opinion, there's no justifiable cause in this mobile phone footage being captured by a member of the public other than to satisfy ones morbid curiosity. However on the other hand there's TV documentaries that show (sometimes in detail) patients in similar circumstances with...

40 years ago today, they took this image!

The most expensive photographs ever to be taken? Nice use of color in the landscape given a lot of the original NASA pics can give the misperception of the Lunar Surface being solely B&W due to contrast and processing. This kind of image shows how the moon is not too dissimilar to that of...

Climbing Snowdon for the first time...

I would personally do the Rhyd Du path if you're wanting a ridge-walk with a couple of photo ops that isn't too out of your league. Ascend via the ridge to the summit and then descend back down the Ranger Trail to look at where you've just come from aswell as having great views across the...

    EVF or LCD?

Fujifilm Finepix s1730 (DSLR), is the model.

    EVF or LCD?

Being 2 years into my DSLR camera I've never used the viewfinder on the EVF before, being in the habit of using the LCD instead to gauge what images are being processed. Is there any benefit of using the EVF over the LCD, or is it just a 'backup' feature of the DSLR range? Most professional...

What triggers you to go shooting?

I have photographic on days, and off days. Just because the weather is nice doesn't necessarily mean i'll be out trekking 15 miles with the camera as sometimes it's just nice to wind down and relax with a cold beer or in the garden. Other days I'm bouncing between walls with creative ideas and...
