Hi I'm hoping someone can help me. I started a thread last night in the macro section and copied the BB code from Flickr as I have always done. However when the thread is viewed all people can see is a flickr icon with a red cross through it. If I edit the post the image is there for me to see...
I had a go at shooting volley ball a while back and would consider f2.8 a minimum. Typical setting for the sports hall I shot in were SS 1/640 - 1/800 iso 6400 and higher, f2.8. Given this the change to f4 would result in even higher iso numbers. hth
Hi folks
My old desktop is dying due to lack of ram and processing speed and I have been offered the following for £325. I run Lightroom 5 and PhotoshopCC.
Your thoughts appreciated!
Happy New Year to all!
Case COOLERMASTER SILEO 500 QUIET MID TOWER
Processor (CPU) AMD PHENOM II X4 965...
Go with the Canon esp. at that price. TBH I wouldn't bother with the 2x convertor. I don't think I've kept anything I've shot using the 1.4x and the 100-400mm.
I started with 100mm on a 50D and found it a nice compromise. The 100mm gives a decent working distance over the 60mm while being lighter than the longer focal lengths. That said my favourite lens is a certain mp-e 65mm....
I think a head on a MP is useful if you want to adopt one of the bracing techniques.

That said I have stopped using the ball head with my MP and 500mm.
For me I'd go Canon 100mm non IS and an off camera flash. You should easily get both for under £400 if you go 2nd hand as I did. Take a look at the "sticky post" in the macro forum for some great ideas!
I don't think you can custom name files with the d5100. You maybe able to create specific folders though. Have a look at the manual:

Page 152 and 162 maybe of interest.
You could always just scribble the event...
Must be lucky where I am then. Still put out bags here!
Good bunch of boys too, turned their backs the other day while I "lost" my old fence somewhere in the back of their lorry:)
Try this.
When I lost my job as an analytical scientist I both swept the streets and did the bins rather than sign on. That was twenty years ago and not much has changed I bet. Cat's **** on the bags, that was my pet hate. Other classics were scalpels, broken glass and even diabetic syringes...
OK think I've got focussing sorted. The ISS is 370km from the Earth. That's damn close compared to the Moon and other celestial bodies.
If you bung a camera with a 1.6x crop and a focal length of 1000m at f8 into DOF master you get a hyperfocal distance of 6464m.
HTH ;)
This may be your focus problem;) The nearest star to earth is 4.2 light years away (10^13km). The ISS is in orbit around the earth so nearer than the moon which is only 385,000km. Your focus could be out by a factor of light years
I haven't tried it (but will for a laugh), but...
Personally I have found using Lehmanns like chucking your lens into a black hole for a while. Eventually it gets spat back out fixed but in the mean time emails and phone calls go unanswered. Just to add the couriers they use weren't much better. I found my lens in the student house next door...
