Thanks for your volumes and indication of speed of response.
Denyerec is right about the need for adequate RAM: 16GB is not that expensive these days, and well worthwhile. You can order compatible RAM from crucial.com/uk if your PC does not come fully loaded with RAM - but check its max...
For several years (since our children married and moved away) we have had no TV in our house. TV viewing on a PC/Mac/iPad is good enough for the programme or two that we watch, though to be open we watch very little TV these days. I would be surprised if it were as much as an hour a week on average.
Not in my experience at the moment. Dye sublimation vs inkjet are generally better than any laser - unless the colour range is small and within the gamut of the printer. For me this tends to rule out laser unless all you need is a proof for editing purposes: not for display.
Depends on the particular circumstances, but I often add a border of a few centimetres, using a colour which echoes the bulk of the print, so that I can cut it more precisely for mounting. The choice of the border colour should be under your control.
Are you able to put hanging hardware easily into the wall? If so, you might try a 'snap' type of duralumin gripper at top and bottom, fixed to a couple of masonry pins in the wall. Your photo could be printed on a waterproof plastic, as used e.g. by zip-posters.co.uk.
To get started you might use Apple photo books. I have found these to be pretty high quality: good feel, good paper, good appearance. But there is a wide choice, which is no doubt why you asked the question in the first place.
We use a cheap wireless HP3050 printer in the house which anyone can print to from their computer or iPad or whatever. Cost £34 from Currys at the time. Colour and definition are better than needed for schoolwork, and good enough for a lot of professional letters with embedded photos. But yes...
Are you able to identify your PC motherboard manufacturer and model number? If so, you may be able to get the requisite drivers for Windows 10 from the motherboard manufacturer's support website. In earlier versions of Windows it has been possible to load the motherboard drivers after loading...
Without your giving much more detail about the volume of photos you wish to manage and to process; and the speed of response you want, it is not realistic to say how well a particular PC will perform for you. That said, you might consider John Lewis as the source of a new PC, as they give good...
Many friends have echoed your sentiments initially when switching from Windows to Mac. Because individuals have different skills and experiences, there are many ways to cross the line. People have already commented on the support given by Apple engineers in Apple retail stores. Some of my...
I use two multi-terabyte hard drives for backup: one stored offsite, with switching ideally about once every couple of months; for cloud storage I use Dropbox, Google and iCloud: the first two for 'special projects' which involve a lot of people sharing. These all work fine and give me the...
Color LCD - used for years, so my eye knows what to expect when I edit and then send to print. I would advise you stick to a standard process workflow if you can.
