The 40D is the second hand bargain of this century so far. It would be a great upgrade from your 400D

Eneloops are the future, no questions. I've been running 48 of them for around 3 yrs now and they aint shown any sign of cr@pping out. They're always there. The Maha C801D is my charger, processor controlled, single bay charging with recondition if desired Just go there !!!!!

James, It should go some way but the lighting variations from stand to stand will affect the output. You'll have to spend some time in PP when you get home and make manual adjustments to your pile of keepers Greg

Have you given any thoughts to the Manfrotto line. 055 or 190 series. both good value and good tripods too

Hi, Have you considered the Calumet variation of the Peli ? Many shapes and sizes. Don't seem to badly priced in comparison

I've had a pair of Bowens Gemini 500's now for about three years (bought 2nd hand too) and they've never missed a beat. A mate bought some Elinchrom Dlites and they have been less than impressive regards reliability, a bit patchy on occasion

I had both the Manfrotto 393 and the King Cobra and after evaluation with them and my 500 f4, I chose the Kirk King Cobra. The 393 is good value for money, no question, but the Kirk is easier to transport and handle.

But they're not showing stock til end of week. Need it quick do ya ?
