    sony alpha a55

I'm also keen to hear a bit more about it. The high speed shooting mode sounds unbeatable at the price-point. What is important to you about a camera?

    Replacement Laptop HDD.

If you want to massively improve the performance of your laptop, SSD is the way to go. They aren't cheap though. I got a small one from eBuyer and it made a huge difference to my PC.

    Upgrade

There is an update for PS Elements 5.0 which (supposedly) makes it compatible with Vista (32 bit only): http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3569 I don't use it, so can't say for sure. Maybe someone else who does can.

    Upgrade

There is a 64bit version of XP as well, but it wasn't as widespread. There are several benefits of going 64-bit. The main one being that 64-bit Windows can use more than 4GB of RAM. But it can be difficult to find drivers for 64-bit Vista. I run it and have only had one problem (a old-ish...

    Upgrade

The main problems with Vista are usually driver related. It might be worth you checking the manufacturers websites for your hardware to see what you can expect. 32-bit Vista is more accomodating than 64-bit Vista.

Nice layout - I like the idea of free desktop wallpapers.

    Why say that???

I read a letter either in AP or on a website (it might have been TP). Which read something like: "I got annoyed when one of my friends said "wow, those are great photos - you must have a fantastic camera". I was invited round to dinner at the same friend's place and after eating, I said -...

canon users : DPP or ACR?

I use Lightroom, so ACR. I do occasionally fall back to DPP if I don't get the results I want, but that is increasingly rare. LR does pretty much everything I need and is pretty good for organising photos.

What was your First L ?

Mine was the 35/1.4. An excellent lens and I'm firmly a prime-a-holic.

    Twin or even triple monitors...?

I use twin monitors at work and at home. It is great as you can work with two applications in full screen at the same time. Also, if you use lightroom then it can take advantage of the second screen by providing an alternative view. I'd much rather have two smaller screens than one large one.

Canon EF 50mm f1.4 worth it?

Definitely - it is better built than the 50/1.8 and at 50 quid it is a steal.
