How do you clean your lenses?

I normally use breath and disposable wipes as I'm worried about grit on a reuse cloth (geology and photography doesn't really mix!). but after reading this article; http://kurtmunger.com/dirty_lens_articleid35.html , I don't worry too much.

    Make Your Own SLR

Wow! that's stunning! The only thing I can make is a mess:shake: I liked this quote; " “Why lenses are you going to use?” I don’t have the arrogance to create a homemade lens – I might make one alright, but just for fun. " and the fact it is serial 001 of 1000. We tend to forget this is...

The more I learn the more confused...

Hi Roger. Some good advice above which I can't really add much to, but I think it's difficult to go for a 'look' if you are photographing different subjects all the time. You also have to careful because a 'look' can make all your pics look a bit samey. It might be worth doing a search for...

    The Big Silence

As someone who will happily lie in a field all day watching clouds and uses photography as a means of getting away from everything I found it very interesting. It reminded me of the poem 'Leisure' by WH Davies. I suspect they will all discover religion as when they hear a voice in their...

Shooting in Manual mode is easy and best!

I use AV most of the time as I'm normally taking all sorts of different shots, adjusting aperture on the front dial and exposure comp on the rear dial as I've been taking pics for a long time and can make an instant judgement as to whether I need comp or not. I'll use manual if I'm using flash...

    Help camera eating batteries

Hi DelS1, You might have just been unlucky on the batteries you've just put in. I did a quick search on google for kx using batteries too quickly and there were a lot of hits to do with types, how well charged etc, so do the same search, have a read and see if any of it helps...

Hi lesco, Welcome to the learning curve! Firstly and most importantly; if your photos are stunning to you/friends and family that is the important thing. If this site makes you even better that is a bonus. (Yardbent has some useful advice  to which I'd add do the same for a...
