    10 stop filter for £2 - really :D

Thanks for resurrecting this thread, I'd intended to buy one of these months ago and completely forgot about it.... just bought one from Dark Mutton for £2 off ebay. Looking forward to having a play! Paul

show me your 85mm portrait shots on crop sensors

show me your 85mm portrait shots on crop sensors

The same question is making me wonder whether I should buy a D700 :bonk: Any excuse! I do find that even with a 50mm on a crop body (D80) it is tricky to get both the framing right and a nice bokeh behind your subject unless the background is significantly further away. I guess this would...

    What Wide Angle (Nikon fit)?

Just thought I'd update this thread seeing as I'm now the owner of a Sigma 10-20mm! Was holding out for a Tokina but the Sigma came up first at an unmissable price (especially considering the current price-rise situation:nuts:) on the classifieds... despite the wildly varying opinion on the...

    Good monitor

I've got an Apple Cinema Display too.... they are fab.. Not cheap, but in comparison to pretty much any other consumer level LCD screen they are far superior for photo editing. IPS panel (as mentioned above) and they work fine on a PC too (with DVI out). Cheers, Paul

    Custom White Balance

I bought one of those WhiBal cards... yes, it was expensive for what is essentially a small piece of grey plastic, but it really does work very well. It is supposedly calibrated for 'correctness' and I'm happy with the results it produces with the Lightroom white balance tool 99% of the time...

    Camerabox

Interesting! Was considering buying a lens from them but I'd never heard of Camera Box before... Lens isn't in stock at the moment anyway.... maybe it is common practice rather than holding stock to just buy in as needed.

    CS4 and Lightroom 2

I used to use LR1 and CS3 but since upgrading to LR2 I've not touched Photoshop at all! I'd say get LR2 at the student price (£90 ish) and see how you get on first... unless of course you are flush with cash and its burning a hole in your pocket!! Paul

    What Wide Angle (Nikon fit)?

The £349 price is Canon fit... its £439 for the Nikon version... humph! :bang: Would ideally be looking to pick up one of these second hand to save a bit of cash... I've also got designs on a 100mm (ish) Macro lens should funds allow! I'm unlikely to go Full Frame in the next few years so...
