Check that your SB900 (master flash) is in M mode and not ttl/bal aa. Alternatively if your making use of ttl on the master your 3rd party slaves need to be in the appropriate slave mode, some have a couple of slave options S1 and S2. eg, S1 maybe standard slave to use with manual flash and S2...
