There are big variations there from day to day depending on the wind - some days they fly at a nice height, other days they are frustratingly below you. However, birds will generally take off and land facing the wind given a choice, so its a major factor for birds in flight Mike

I'd say the opposite Dave. When the wind is coming in off the land side you're going to get them facing you as they come in to land, otherwise you get them backing in. 2 1/2 hours each way for me and I don't bother going if its an east wind MIke
