What's your biggest weakness in your photography...

Actually I have Paint shop pro as well but the older version(8). Its just that nearly all the magazine demos I have seen use some version of Photoshop as standard to show you how to do things. I maybe should have answered my biggest weakness is a lack of post processing skills as I still think...

What's your biggest weakness in your photography...

Probably not owning a copy of Photoshop. I think my photography has improved but I dont have the money to buy the equipment to get any better.

    The new version of Flickr

I thought it was just my Sky broadband at first! (which is slow enough anyway despite paying for unlimited). Not sure I like the new version yet. I was hoping it would grow on me.Some aspects are definitely worse.

So how did you get started?

My sister got her first job at an old independent photo shop in Leicester in the 70's and as she was 8 years older and I was still at school she used to drag me around to help her take pictures. Coincidentally I got my first job at Jessops and at one point was testing all faulty stock sent back...

Paid for my sensor to be cleaned professionally terrible result

Not surprised at anything Jessops do.I asked a member of staff about cleaning my Nikon in Leicester a few weeks ago and he didn't seem to know how long, how much or really give a damn so I just bought a rocket blower brush instead.I then looked for advice on the net, used some cotton swabs from...

Can anyone suggest locations for landscape photography?

I think the peak district is the outstanding area of the East Midlands for landscapes. Stanage and Curbar edge, the Great ridge above Castleton,Kinder Scout and Derwent edge near Ladybower reservoir are all excellent and fairly easy to get to from Derby.

    Most popular on flickr?

This with over 4800 views although only taken with a Kodak bridge camera. It may be more to do with the Keira Knightly Pride and Prejudice film as she was ogling it in the sculpture gallery at Chatsworth House. The Veiled Vestal Virgin,Chatsworth House by Raffaelle Monti

Peak District Potential Walking & Landscape Photography Locations Info needed please!

Matlock is not too bad either as its not far from Bakewell, Chatsworth Park, Haddon Hall, the Monsal trail and viaduct, Lathkill dale and a few stone circles. In fact the bus from matlock gets to the Fox house inn near Stanage edge in only about 45 mins so should not take long by car or to go...

    jessops/comet staff

I remember trying to buy a camera in Dixons when the kid working there told me it was from the cage( i think he meant it was locked up in the secure room) so must be brand new even though the box had obviously been opened before and it appeared to have a pubic hair on the lens! With so many...

    Peak District sunset

One of the best sunsets I have seen was near Stanage Edge over Hathersage. It was in January though as I think the winter sunsets are more dramatic.

    I used to like Jessops

I worked for them for 20 years. I do feel for their staff as they are low paid and used to be very poorly trained, taking all the flak due to useless bosses. I would like to feed much of the former management to crocodiles but that's another story.I'm still amazed they have not gone bust yet.

    First DSLR, looking for tips

I just put my Nikon D60 onto Aperture priority setting of around F10/11 and found all pictures improved overnight.

    Places to shoot in Leicester

Belvoir castle and Battle of Bosworth battlefield are quite good. Also Calke abbey and Staunton Harold just north of Ashby.

A bizarre event - How's this from service from Jessops?

Have you put in a google search to see if its the same bloke? Kathy? I worked at head office for 20 years. All the family used to work there at some point until they sold the place and buggered off. Old man Frank used to turn up sometimes in his yellow Rolls Royce. They were quite...
