good post. If I ever remember to, i'll try and post a comparison. I have a 400d, the father-in-law has a 40d and the mother-in-law has just bought a g9. luckily we get on very well;) i suspect i am going to be envious of the G9 for many things, could be interesting.:thinking:

apart from all the legal bits, where are you going to do this? If you're in the stands at some event and making a nuisance by getting in people's way and spoiling the event, i'd wager that some of you kit may go missing or get 'altered'.

not answeringthe above question but i use my old plat monitor as a second screen with my imac. If you want a mac a bit cheaper there are discounts available for specific people. there's an education discount for students and teachers (17.5%) or a discount for any NHS worker of 8%. there...

only used the father-in-laws 70-300 to compare with but i bought the 55-250 and love it. much cheaper and v. nearly as good

the first thing that hit me was the horrible font of the text - and the fact you have 3 diffferent fonts on the first page. just use the arial-esque one that has 'portrait studios slough'. colourscheme could be better too, didn't get any further through the site. Generally I rate the BBC...

depends where you're going in france and where you're staying - i.e. camping, B&B, caravan or hotel. if its a possibility that someone might nick your stuff, get the canon after.

i'd love the 50 1.4 on a full frame, but I have the 1.8 on a crop sensor - i still love it. As a massive amateur, whenever i'm playing around with settings and everything, its nice to stick a fixed lens on and figure out where i'm going wrong. Also, I only ever had a 50 on my only slr before...

As sole mac, don't get the air - not enough ports. apart from that the pro's are better but, depending on what you're going to do, a macbook may do. don't forget an external HD as time machine will back up to it. max the ram - don't buy apple stuff it's hideously expensive, go via crucial or...
