You're right Im probably being a little harsh. I must admit stopping down on the canon yields really good results but the vivitar has a bit of fringing and is tad soft at the edges even between f8 and f11. Nothing a little crop and post processing can't usually sort mind you.
I've got an a6000 and done the exact same. I bought a canon 50mm with adaptor for £30 and a vivitar 28mm for £20. Like you say not sharp but great fun.
Generally with a lens that long you're going to be focusing more on specific details of the landscape rather than capturing the entire view. However, if you're looking for replicating those stereotypical wide landscape vistas, its still possible with a longer lens through panorama blending in...
I don't have an iPhone but presume it's a similar premise to ShotHotspot?
I've checked the ShotHotspot site a few times when visiting new areas but always found the information to be sporadic at best unfortunately. It's a great idea just not enough people contributing I don't think, obviously...
Very interesting, looks like someone may be looking at ways of getting one over on adobe?
Depending how they update and intergrate in the coming months, DxO could definitely become a weighty contender against lightroom.
Thanks for this Stephen, I could have sworn I'd googled to see if there was a club in/around Macclesfield, Don't know how I missed that. May have to pop down to check it out before I take membership else where.
Almost worth getting a key just because you can if it's going free! No harm in having access to alternative's, you never know why you might need something in a pinch.
That's it isn't it, one-stop convenience.
Like you say, this can only spur on the competition and if we can see this is the only real thing adobe has over the competition no doubt they have. You never know you might find a couple of developers collaborating or consolidating as it were to offer...
haha, please ignore me I just re-read your post and it makes sense now. I initally thought you were sharing your love for a program called 'Photos Organisation', not praising Apple's 'Photos' for it's organisation
I've never heard of Alien Skin before but you're correct, certainly looks like it might be worth the trial at least. I found this video of the software in action if anyone is interested.
Didn't see a noticeable benefit in the other software compared to Lightroom then I take it?
From what I've...
Have you got any links Snake? I think I'd be happy to separate my DAM from the editor if the benefit's were great enough.
Also apparently a version of CaptureOne is available for free to sony users - clicky, so I might be trying that out.
I've heard a lot of noise coming from the capture one users in recent months but I must admit not not tried it myself. From what i can see though it's become a very comprehensive piece of software.
