    Sensor Gone?

Thanks, I'll give them a call tomorrow. The 1D MkIII had mirror sub-assembly problems and some were recalled for a fix. My serial number falls into the affected batch but it was never sent back for the fix as it worked!! But I don't think it is the mirror sub assembly as the focus and tracking...

    Sensor Gone?

No I am not a CPS member. I think it will have to go back to Canon though!!

    Sensor Gone?

Shutter moves. In live view the screen is also black which makes me think either the sensor is gone or the electronics from the sensor are not being read.

    Sensor Gone?

My Canon 1D MkIII seems to have a bust sensor. The camera functions all work yet when I press the shutter no image is recorded. All the camera information is displayed on the back of the screen, the histogram shows nothing and where the image should be is just black (but showing where the AF...

Canon 1DX - Official Owners Thread

Ha Ha, Nice post Igadiz, 46.1 MP! But to be honest, for me, so what! I do not need 46MP, neither do I need even 36MP in a Canon to compete with the D800. How many of use all that resolution? I barely scratch the surface of the resolution of my MkII; the largest I print is A3 and the odd...

Canon 1DX - Official Owners Thread

Many thanks everyone. I will go for the 1DX (and the 70-200 2.8). I am sure I would love the MkIII to bits (I love my MkII!) but I reckon I have a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy the very best Canon make and whatever I shoot; wildlife, studio, macro, landscape the 1DX will give me the...

Canon 1DX - Official Owners Thread

Sorry but the 1 dx has a single digic 4 processor JUST for the AF. The 5DMk III does not, so AF is faster and more accurate in the 1dx; I read reviews too. What I want is advice from pros who actually use the camera.

Canon 1DX - Official Owners Thread

Great image Chris and thanks for the advice George. Tugster, good question!; I posted here because I wanted advice from 1DX USERS. Like George, I am a bit worried about loss of resolution but the sensor in the 1DX is NOT the same as the 5DMKIII and he seems happy in the studio as does Chris...

Canon EOS 1-DX or 5D MkIII

I have the same dilemma! I want to upgrade my 5DMkII. I use the 7D for Wildlife and a 300 f2.8 with x1.4 and x2 TCs. For studio and everything else I use the 5DMkii, 24-70L 70-200mm f4 IS. Macro 100L and 17-24 wide angle; all Canon. I can afford a 1DX or instead buy a 5DMkIII plus battery...

Canon 1DX - Official Owners Thread

I shoot all sorts, from studio to landscape to wildlife. Currently I use a 5DMkII for studio and landscapes and a 7D for Wildlife. I can afford an upgrade to a 1DX in the expectation it will cover all options, and I get rid of the two older bodies. Or for the same dosh I can buy a 5DMkIII and...
