UV filter - Hoya HMC vs Pro 1D

I've just got a Tamron 18-270 pzd nikon (d90) for holiday/travel and at the time picked up a Hoya HMC filter (62mm) . When I got home I realised I'd previously used a Pro 1D on my stock 18-108 Nikon stock lens. Any thoughts on whether this is a silly mistake? Should I return and get a Pro 1D...

    LR3 V hight memory useage!

Similar here. The 64 bit version would rapidly use up 2.5Gb+ (on a 4Gb system) and start crawling until restarted. Catalog optimization didn't help, though I haven't recreated all 1:1 previews yet (though all the ones I'm working on are) Installed the 32 bit version and it was much faster -...

Battery Chargers - AA, Ansmann max e speed set any good?

Hi, I get through many AA's for devices around the home, and in flashgun etc. Previously I've had a "Soshine SC3" which promised a lot, but now tends to simply flash the lcd after a few minutes and/or cook the batteries. I have a suspicion that rather than the same device as a similar...

    Reflector (very amateur)

I'm thinking for sticking in a bag a manufactured option may be better. So something like http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-interfit-int227-easy-grip-reflector-silver-white/p1007498 (interfit INT 227 rectangular silver/white 90x60 cm)...

    Reflector (very amateur)

Just to clarify, with Nikon CLS I do have the SB600 and (optionally) the on-camera flash.

    Reflector (very amateur)

Hi, I have a Nikon D90 + SB600 flash (& 18-200 VR lens). I just started SLR photography middle of last year so definately in the "newbie" amateur category. When taking portraits of the family (not planned, just when out/about) I'm realising that getting the right lighting takes a lot of...

Recommend Me A Printer For Around £70 Please.

I rarely print photos (!) but have a Canon IP4500 which is excellent - Fast, not pricey (compared to others), excellent photo quality, built in duplex. Much prefer it to the epson I had, although that was 5+ years ago. Always blocking.

Hey, Im new and just about to purchase my first DSLR!

For my first DSLR I was going to go sony a350, then oly E520, 620 but finally settled on Nikon D90. The 18-105mm lens was a significant factor, but I also found it excellent to hold & just use. it felt great. You can currently get it for £749 And if you go via topcashback.co.uk you can get 4%...

    Advice please d700 strap.

Even as a beginner, a couple of sessions out with my D90 got me thinking of replacing my stock strap. - It was a little like wearing sandpaper - The bright yellow was screaming out Ended up with an Optech pro which is remarkably comfortable. It really does make my d90 feel a lot lighter, and...

    Synchronising pop-up and external flash

The answer for your first sentance is yes, easy. However this was with a Nikon D90 + SB600 which have wireless support out of the box (very useful). Can choose which flash is used, or both & change power of each whilst still controlled by cameras automatic metering. Sorry I can't help with your...

hoya circular polarizer question (is hoya the same as kenko?? need help)

There is a slight kenko/hoya difference in their pro-1d UV and CPLs. The Kenko use "wideband" glass which I think in theory is actually slightly better than the optical glass used in the hoya.

    Nikon focus calibration...

You could check my taking some shots (tripod) of say 3 AA batteries standing on end, arranged across the frame, each the width of a battery further away, and check focus is correct on the center one. You could also check with a comparison with CD AF via live view, as the mechanism is...

Your thoughts against the Nikon D90

After researching my first DSLR for months I effectively concluded that the contenders in a given price range differed relatively little in capability -- certainly in terms of the basics. I ended up mostly deciding on usability/comfort. For me the D90 just felt well balanced, solid, and like a...

    SDHC Memory

I recently got a D90 and bought one Sandisk 30 Mbps sdhc card, along with a series of slower cards. As expected my conclusion was I could have saved and stuck to the slower cards, but then I don't expect to do much in the way of continuous shooting. That's the only time the sandisk would be...
