    Nikon Z* mirrorless

FWIW I own the 85/1.2 and in my opinion the 50/1.2 and 85/1.2 are the best lenses Nikon has ever made. The images with them just have something special. The cream machine used to be my favorite lens ever. The 85/1.2 knocked it off that spot. However. The 1.2 lenses are big and heavy. This isn’t...

Not posted in a while but some recent shots with my Zf

In a sealed film container it would have been more likely. But fun finding out what you get at the end.

    New Camera

If you are used to Nikon I think I'd suggest you stay with the Z5ii, Z6iii, or Z8. Whilst the Canon might have slightly better AF, the lenses I find aren't as good. But that's just my findings from trying them. You can borrow a canon using the trythekit option to see how it suits you.

    Film identification.

Definitely Jessops film. Can tell by the rainbow. If that's been in the camera for 15 years I'd assume it's not going to be much use and try setting it to ISO 100. Pot luck if you get anything after that amount of time exposed to air.

The one that got me serious in photography

Yeah I spent many an hour in the bathroom at home with a big sheet of black plastic over the door developing B&W over the bath when I didn't go into the one at college and after that. I remember well the fun of loading film into cassettes from a bulk roll and that Rubik's cube like back and...

    Going from Nikon 400mm f/2.8 & 500mm f/4 to 600mm PF & 400mm f/4.5

I noticed that Cotswolds have the 400 TC for £9999 and was very tempted. But managed to hold off the GAS on that one given I'd never use it enough to justify it.

The one that got me serious in photography

I think my first was a Pentax K1000, or something similar to that. Managed to get me a GCSE in photography back when I was 17 and I've never not owned a camera and loved photography since. I still have my old negatives from back in the day somewhere :)

    Help! Can't access classifieds

Evening. Any chance my access could be reinstated? I didn't think I'd been inactive for that long but clearly I have, blimey!

    Going from Nikon 400mm f/2.8 & 500mm f/4 to 600mm PF & 400mm f/4.5

I've had the 400/4.5 since they came out. It's a fantastic lens and very light. I lust after the 400/2.8TC but don't have close to that sort of money and the weight difference is huge. The 400/4.5 is so easy to carry around for long periods. It works well with the 1.4tc too.

    Z7ii Auto focus issue

Bet your shooting tight head shots aren’t you? Because that’s exactly my experience of the Z7ii. Fixed by switching to an expeed 7 based body.

    Z8 or R5

If you’re adapting lenses rather than buying native I’d go R5. Having used both the R5 and Z8 pretty extensively I’d say the Z8’s advantage is the Z lenses. I find the the Z lenses far smoother and quieter to focus than RF lenses. RF lenses have a ‘feel’ like older lenses in that you feel and...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

I've given up even thinking about it these days. Is one lens sharper than another? Who cares they're all so sharp now it's fairly irrelevant. It's the look you get now. I mean the 85/1.8s lens is sharp as anything, but I hated the look which is why the 85/1.2 is so good, it just has a nicer...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

Godox work fine on Z cameras, but they sometimes need to have the FW updated. My V1 didn't work when I moved to the Z line but after updating the FW in it it's worked fine since.

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

I'd start by upgrading the FW on the Godox. That would be the usual thing.
