    Wales Mach Loop Locations

Some good information here, thanks all :) On top of location is there good and bad times to go? I ask as I'm planning on going for a couple of days next month, assuming the weather is ok should I be aware of any other specific times?

    Canon 300mm f/4 L (non IS) Hood repair/removal

Indeed it had. Cheers for the help, got it off ok but it's only a friction slider so probably needs new felt to work properly (can't complain at 23 years old!). I assumed it was a twist to hold type and thought it was broken.

    Canon 300mm f/4 L (non IS) Hood repair/removal

Cheers Bob, Rubber surround comes off and I can see the ring with slots, how tight should this be? I'm putting quite a lot of effort and it's not moving, I assume it's normal thread rotation?

    Canon 300mm f/4 L (non IS) Hood repair/removal

I like to fix things myself, but I know when to leave things to someone who knows better. I was hoping it would be easy to remove (probably is if you know how) but I'll get upset if I break it.

    Canon 300mm f/4 L (non IS) Hood repair/removal

Hi all, I've a Canon 300mm f/4 L USM lens, not the IS model, and the hood is a little loose and slides up and down on it's own. Seems to have very little restriction holding it still. Does anyone know how to remove the hood? TIA

New Lens for Canon 40D (Help please)

I would have to agree with Grayman. I picked up my 70-200F4L for a little under £400 from this forum a year or so ago and it produces some fantasic photos. I'm assuming you already have the wide end covered with your current lens.

Is there a cure for kit lust?

Fraud? I'm not sure putting a D300 sticker on and telling people it is one will really help.

is it worth upgrading this lens

I use my 17-85 quite a lot, and while it isn't perfect I like it. Auto focus is fast, quiet and accurate. It's best at the long end, I've taken some very sharp well detailed portraits with it. It does however suffer a little at the wide end, a fair amount of distortion and purple fringing but...
