Thinking the unthinkable - letting go of my dSLR

I got a sony A7II to go along with my 5DII when my 5DI died. Long story short, I sold my 5DII and all my canon lenses in less that 1 year.

Again... They have advertising on the website. That advertising generates money. Where is that money going? If it's not making a profit is because someone is getting a big pay check every month...

If the newspaper isn't making a profit, it is because the money isn't being well spent. Every time you visit the site, they get paid. So, who gets the advertising money if it isn't the people creating the content and the newspaper isn't making a profit?

So is everyone there working for free? No... Is it a non profit organisation? No... Do the administrators get a big pay check at the end of the month? I'm sure they do...

Newspapers do pay for it. They've always paid for it... Unless you send it for free.

The Guardian Needs Your Butterfly Pics

There are two different things in the article. On one side, there's the "big butterfly count". They have a website and they DON'T REQUIRE ANY PHOTOS of butterflies for the count. If you go to the website and submit the info they've asked, you'll be helping. Again, No photos needed... On the...

    All in one PC's

In the mac world, Imacs have become standard in pro environment. So that shows that All-in-one can work great for image processing. Just make sure you get something with decent specs and a really great screen.

What camera and flash do you have?

    No photography at places

First of all, if the laws are like in Portugal, Churches and stuff are not public. That's why they can apply different rules. :\ And usually they don't allow photography to preserve paintings. Usually "tourist" use flash all the time and all that light is like putting a painting in the sun. It...

Metering for aircraft in flight etc.

The light in the sky is very consistent, unless you have clouds on and off. Why don't you just set the camera to manual mode and ensure consistency without worries?

    35 or 85 prime?

My approach to buying lens is needing them, then buying them. If I'm looking for one aesthetic that one specific lens can give me, or if i have a technical problem that a lens will solve, i'll buy the lens. I once bought a 50mm because everybody said it was great and every photographer had to...

    35 or 85 prime?

I know this is a stupid question.. But why do you need any of those? The lens i use the most is the 85 1.8 from canon. I have the 24-70 and a 200 2.8. But the 85 gets 80% of the final images. I know why i need one. But do you? You're gonna have a set of lens that will allow you to try 35mm...

    Canon 50mm f1.8 (with adapter) vs 40mm f2.4

Well, i think you bought the wrong camera. If you want something small and light, maybe you should check the mirrorless cameras. Same sensor, smaller package.

    What equipment for portrait photography?

Strobes can give you a different effect. You can control the light in a more precise way. You can use them as a fill, second light, overpower the sun, just to illuminate some details you want, softbox, beauty dish, snoots... If you go for strobes, don't forget you'll need the light stands...
