i have 2 7dayshop ones and a genuine canon. whilst the 7dayshop batteries are fine, they don't have the capacity of the canon. on average, i get 500-600 shots out of the compatibles but 900-1000 from the canon.

another positive for HDEW from me. ordered a 7d mkii on the 20th and it was delivered on the 23rd. only gripe was they reduced the price by £100 just after i ordered. i complained by email and they offered to refund me the £100 EDIT: the refund has now reached my account

But OS\IS does matter when shooting props\helos at 1/100 - 1\200 s, at least it helps for me.

I have one I use on a 7d and 1dmkiii, it suits the latter a little better. As a cheap walkabout for a 1.3x, its ok, compact, good image quality, fast quiet AF. It'll do until I can shell out £500 for the 24-105. Check carefully which version, there a good buyers guide on eBay.

i had something similar, turns out it was a clogged nozzle. have you run a print head test?

canon only seem to allow access to the latest version, alas.

did you save a copy of your original firmware? if so, you could try rolling back (unless the new firmware is needed)

Does anyone know where i can get my hands on older versions of the 1d mkiii firmware for testing purposes? canon seems to not allow users access to a firmware archive. specifically, i'm looking for 1.2.3 and 1.2.5 many thanks
