    Canon 24-105 alternatives

Will be a great lens for any canon body tbh and what a lot of people will go if not the 24-105mm, I will eventually move onto one from my 24-105mm once I have sorted out a few other bits of equipment. Instead of looking on Ebay why not look at the classifieds on here? Get a lot better prices...

Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2010 Update post #26

I would go for the 70-200mm, reason being some friends went last year and they were just using P&S cameras but got good results for being so close to the track, I would imagine you would speed little time going anywhere over 200mm on the 100-400

    You and your camera

I have a Crumpler half photo bag so always have my camera with me and put my other day to day bits in the top, really not that hard to take around with me when I would have a bag anyway. Agree on the "if i don't have it could miss a photo" opinion, hopefully got a few nice shots of the fog we...

    Official Batteries or 3rd Party?

Just seen MissV has a 5dii, doesn't this have "chipped" batteries and so you need to get official ones?

    Official Batteries or 3rd Party?

I use 3rd party ones for my 40D, no issues with them at all and saved a fortune over the official Canon ones. Even if the battery quickly loses its charge (which they don't, work flawlessly) you could purchase them several times over before you reach the cost of an official one!

    7D and walk around lens

Yep you lose out slightly on the wide end but for I found i never really shoot at that end and the extra length is extremely handy. The F4 is the only downside but helps with IS, which is also extremely good, i have managed to shot handheld down at 1/5 seconds and get great results

    7D and walk around lens

Probably the best option would be the 18-55mm 2.8 for a walkabout lens. I bought a 24-105mm L for my 40D and have fallen in love with it, the quality increase is incredible so I would say it is well worth the money for L glass. That said the 18-55mm 2.8 is said to be L quality but without...

    Spare batteries?

Another shout for the 7day shop ones, bought two for my 40D and work flawlessly, a bargain compared to paying for original ones

Do you always upgrade your firmware?

Couldn't agree more with that, not like an OS where there is so much to go wrong but everything is set by the manufacturer for the camera and all you will be getting is bug fixes and possibly new features or tweaks - why wouldn't you want that :)

In focus from foreground to background

Was posted from my phone and to be fair such a minor typo that I don't think it really matters whether it was picked up or not but each to own, espcially in the way you did anyway.. Back on topic That is another very handy tip and one I have just re-read through now and got my head around...
