    40D one of 'My Menu' picks has fell off!

    I'm not familiar with the 40D but I know that on many Nikons the "format card" option is not allowed on "my menu", presumably to avoid accidental erasure. Maybe it's the same for your camera.

    Which software?

    Capture NX2 (approx £120) with "U-point" system. You can "tweak" all or just selected areas (single or many) quickly and easily with lots of options . No need for layers, masks etc.
